Mark Halden Mark is a play consultant and educator from the
UK, with over 30 years experience of working in summer camps, adventure playgrounds, youth clubs and with young people who
have additional needs. Mark has been managing play facilities for Local Authorities in the UK for the last 14 years. Ongoing projects include talking to community groups and schools about the importance of play in child development, and the development
of challenging playgrounds and play environments. As well as speaking about the importance of play and the importance of consultation with children in the development
of play spaces, Mark delivers training for playworkers and currently manages a staffed adventure playground in East London.
Mel Anastasiou Mel is a writer and educator. She is particularly interested in play
in curricula, particularly its role in building and strengthening originality, craft, and love of writing in children and
adults.
